Charlie began his Pest-End career in March 2024 as a Tick and Mosquito Technician. His exemplary work ethic and leadership potential quickly caught the attention of management, leading to his promotion to Lead Technician by July and subsequently to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Supervisor by November 2024. As he prepares for the 2025 season, Charlie shares insights into the realities of starting and growing a career at Pest-End.  

What to Expect as a New Technician at Pest-End

At Pest-End, new technicians dive into our Residential Services division, handling tasks ranging from tick and mosquito control to general pest management and termite inspections. We ensure that every technician receives comprehensive hands-on training, collaborates with experienced professionals, and gains a thorough understanding of pest behavior and effective treatment strategies.

Charlie was initially surprised by the scientific aspects required in the role: “The extensive knowledge needed about biology, pest behavior, and environmental impacts essential for effective pest management was eye-opening.”

A Typical Day for a Tick & Mosquito Technician

Charlie's typical day starts at 7:00 AM, traveling to the first service location, with treatments beginning by 7:30 AM. His day involves:

• Treating 10-15 properties with a 30-40lb backpack sprayer.
• Applying targeted treatments around properties.
• Completing detailed documentation by late afternoon.

Charlie enjoyed the autonomy of the role, allowing him to work independently, enjoy the outdoors, and build lasting relationships with customers.
