Do you find that every spring you seem to find ants around your home? These little invaders are unwelcome harbingers of spring - marching around your kitchen and bathroom like they own the place. These extremely common pests should be dealt with by a professional pest company like Pest-End in order to put an end to the invasions once and for all and to protect your home from future pest problems. Pest-End can find any potential nests and treat appropriately for your ant problem. As a homeowner what can you do to help prevent ant invasions? There are several things that you can do on your own to help discourage these little critters from entering and taking up residence in your home.

  • Find sources - This spring, as you clean up around the exterior of your home, look for cracks or openings that may be sources of entry for ants into your home. Close up and seal using calk any that you can see.
  • Food Storage - Since the kitchen tends to be a major hangout of ants take steps to keep ants away. Limit a water source by fixing drips in sinks. Store sweet staples like sugar, syrup and honey in plastic containers that snap shut, and wipe them down to remove any sticky residue. Clean up grease spills from counter tops and floors as soon as they happen. Check the fruit bowl any over ripe fruit will attract ants. Clean up any spill and droppings of food especially if you have children who are constantly dropping crackers or cookies.
  • Bathroom Moisture Hangouts - The bathroom tends to be another great place to find ants since they love moisture. Again, stop and fix all drips and water build up that ants will drink from. Close all shampoo or sweet smelling bottles or toothpaste containers that may attract ants.
  • Trash - Take out your trash regularly and keep storage bins away from the home. If you recycle, wash out all bottles or cans that may have sugar based products. Those will attract ants quickly. Keep recyclables away from the building of your home as well.
  • Grilling area - Clean and maintain a clean grilling area outside your home. Ants will be attracted to leftover food droppings and the grease spills associated with an outdoor grill. Wash with soapy water and rinse off decks or patios that may have drippings.
