Where Bed Bugs Could Be Hiding

Once you have determined that you may have some bed bugs biting you in the middle of the night, you will want to explore more of your living quarters to find out how widespread the problem could be. Some of the top places include:

  • The bed is the first and most obvious spot to examine. As we stated above, check the mattress especially the seams where bed bugs can be found. Look for blood stains or droppings that could indicate a problem.
  • Electrical receptacles are also a good hiding spot for bed bugs. They tend to slip inside outlets, devices, and anywhere near the bed that can provide easy access to human blood after hours.
  • Drawers and furniture joints are a convenient hiding place for bed bugs. Drawers tend to be in bedrooms where access to human blood is plentiful as well as in chairs that can provide a host at any time of day.
  • Rugs and carpets, especially those with high pile carpeting provide just enough coverage for bed bugs to hide out during the day and access to a meal at night.
  • Books, especially those found on the floor in bedrooms or on shelves near a bed are excellent hiding places for bed bugs. These dry quiet places can provide a place to rest during the day and easy access to a host at night.
